…About Last Week

September 22, 2014

I guess I’m over the drama of the missing toothdepends on what day it is. Caught this picture of her peeking over the island. Mama’s little snaggletooth preemie.

Last week was super chill. I’ve been working on a new project so the majority of last week was spent doing some leg work on that. Had plans to get away for the weekend but they fell through so we ended up having a free and clear weekend. No complaints over here.

…About Last Week

September 15, 2014

Last week was good. Was a slightly laid back week, nothing out of the ordinary worth announcing. Well, I suppose you should know that I got a new lens for my camera so get ready for photo overloads cause I’m extra hype again about photography and getting better so be prepared for lots of pictures until the newness of the new lens wears off.

Summer Vacation Week 3

June 16, 2014

Laid low was the name of the game last week. My father didn’t leave until Thursday and I babysat my nephew all dayTuesday, Wednesday and Thursday  so we stayed indoors and sporadically ventured outside in the evenings when it cooled down.

Friday we snuck off to the Old 4th Ward Splash Pad and playground for some fun in the sun and lunch with one of our favorite families.

After kicking it at the splash pad  we ventured over into Virginia Highlands for lunch at Yeah Burger.

Yeah Burger

It was my first time there. Everything on the menu is organic and locally raised. The food was a little pricey but well worth it.

After Yeah Burger I took a walk on the wild side and ventured to the Farmer’s Market with two stuffed and sleepy children. Never again.

Saturday the children had two birthday parties to attend and we stepped out to the mall to try and find the Mr. what he wanted for Father’s Day. We didn’t find it *insert side eye*

Sunday, we went to church and I spent the better part of the day trying to get a handle on this laundry that has gotten out of control.

How was your week? Anything spectacular. Headed on vacation? Where are you going?!

Summer Vacation Week 2- A Trip to DC

June 10, 2014
National Harbor

This past week was crazy to say the least.

My Aunt, my father’s sister passed away and I decided to take the children with me to DC to attend the funeral. Unfortunately because of the short time frame the plane tickets were too expensive for all of us so I decided a road trip was in order.

My father didn’t want me to take the trip alone with the kids, as my husband had a previous engagement that he needed to attend in Miami so my father flew from Las Vegas to Atlanta and drove up with us.

With no prior engagements on my calendar we set out for DC on Thursday to do a little sightseeing before the funeral on Saturday.

Outside of the circumstances for our visit we had an great time taking in some of the sights and seeing old friends and family members during our short time there.

Friday we visited the Aquatic Gardens which is like an oasis in the middle of the city. Raw unbothered habitat is right up my father’s alley…and he was all in with his camera. Disclaimer: My father retired from National Geographic so there is some background on why he had us in the hot sun for about an hour snapping photos of turtles and lilly pads and geese.

Leaving there we made a few different stops checking out some of the sights that DC has to offer to include riding the new Capital Wheel at the National Harbor. I’ll just say I’m not about that height life at 35. I was a complete and nervous wreck the entire time. They lift you up and then you sit there suspended while they let other people on. Glad to say I did it once….cause

National Harbor

We slid by the Jefferson, Lincoln, World War II and Martin Luther King Memorials as well as the Monument.

…and no AKA could be 5 blocks from Howard University and not visit the AKA tree at the founding place of their beloved Sorority. I had to do it.

Saturday we spent with family before waking and getting back on the road Sunday around 8 to get back home. We landed back in ATL around 8p.

Again, outside of the circumstances it was great catching up with old family members and meeting new ones. Family really and truly is the backbone of EVERYTHING and I’m glad we took the trip to pay our respects.

I’m tired and the week ahead is full. My father will be here until Thursday so I will be scarce around the interwebs but make sure you come back tomorrow. I’m revealing the accent wall and Curtainworks curtains that I recently installed in the kitchen.

How was your weekend? Anything spectacular?

Summer Vacation Week I

June 2, 2014

Our first week of Summer Vacation is over.

I have created a weekly schedule that involves school work, library, etc. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday are reserved for outings and field trips.

For the first week of break I decided to let them have free fun.

We spent lots of time outdoors, riding bikes, taking walks and hanging out.

Thursday I was given a Media Pass to visit Six Flags’ new waterpark, Hurricane Harbor. The kids had a ball, and so did I. I’ll blog more about that later in the week.

The rest of the week and weekend was low key. You know the normal, cleaning, grocery shopping…..and I got that accent wall done. Reveal to come this week!

How was your weekend? What do you have planned for your children this summer?

May 26, 2014

This weekend was the perfect kick off to Summer.

Addison’s last day of school was last Wednesday and Adrian’s was Friday. Come Saturday morning we had a house full of children to include my nephew, as well as my niece and her friend.

By 11a everyone including the Mr. and I was outside playing.

When it was too hot to play outside the older children ventured inside to help my MIL make a cake. I just love this photo, as we know Big Mama doesn’t exist any more and it was such a joy to see them in the kitchen with Grandma.

While everyone was sucking up the air inside and taste testing cake batter I was left outside with a sweet little girl who got a new bike and was dead set on riding and roasting in the afternoon sun.

Hold on Doc….Hold on!!

Once it cooled off  everyone made their way back outside for a little evening breeze. My niece caught this photo of the Mr. and I. You know he makes rare appearances around here.

Later in the evening my bestie Erika stopped by with her family. While watching the playoff game #GoHeat,  we snuck in a few #Usies

Sunday, we ventured to Chuck E. Cheese for a birthday party.

Today/Monday we are planning to stay close to home. We may take a visit to a local park that has a dedicated memorial section for our fallen soldiers. Maybe I’ll try to recreate this photo from last year

Heritage Park

A HUGE thank you to all who have served and are serving. Please be sure to tell Service Men/Women thank you when you see them.

Have a great Memorial Day!!!
