It’s November 10. To say I’m a little perturbed by the fact that in the matter of a week it has jumped from Harvest Season/Fall to Christmas/Winter. I need a buffer.
Did ya miss me?!
Took a few weeks off to get well, enjoy the holidays and just reflect on my moves for 2014.
Christmas was well. We didn’t go all out for the children, each was given 3 gifts except for the baby. Lil Mama was blessed with 5 gifts, but she’s a baby still so yeah!
We decided moving forward that Christmas would be more about building traditions so Christmas Eve we made cookies
The baby woke at the crack of dawn. I tried to put her off for a few minutes. That Southern Comfort
mixed with Hennessy had me sleeping goooooooood, you hear me? My son got a tablet, my stepdaughter a laptop and Addison got her own baby tablet better known as a Nabi
I’m glad the holidays are over. It always seems like life is suspended and then everything goes back to normal. Now I’m just counting down the days until school is back in session. These folks are driving me crazy over here.
How was your Christmas? Anything spectacular happen? Anybody get engaged? Anybody get a new car?
We finally got a Christmas tree.
It was on the agenda but not at the forefront of the minds of the adults in this house. I suppose I was counting the fact that the mantle and the outside decorations were done, however the children were ready to stage a coup if we didn’t get a tree. So get a tree we did.
We got it from Kroger, got it home and in the stand before remembering that all of our Christmas decorations were thrown out with the trash when we moved.
Off to Target.
How was Thanksgiving?
We laid low over here. As you can probably tell I failed miserably at NaBloPoMo this year. It wasn’t all my fault. Our internet went out..as in Charter had to come out here and do something to the line so I blame Charter that I wasn’t able to finish the challenge. To be honest I’ve been struggling with blogging for the past month or so. I just don’t know if I’m really into it any more, or if I just need to take a break or just take it back to the day when I didn’t care about all of the other stuff that came along with it other than having people genuinely come here and interact. Quietly LaShawn was all up in my head when she wrote this post
Anywho! Thanksgiving was great around these parts. I cooked a little sumthin’ sumthin’, family brought over a little sumthin’ sumthin’ and we enjoyed each other as family should. We hosted at our house so the refrigerator needs to be cleaned out. I just don’t even want to think about that part…ugh.
I didn’t hit up any Black Friday places except Target and I didn’t get what I came for but after reading about the aftermath of some of the activities on Black Friday to be honest this year was probably the last year I will be headed out. I am coming to realize it really isn’t that serious….We’ll see. I say that every year!
So we finally got an Elf on the Shelf this year. She has been named Bella and I won’t tell you how thrilled I am that she is a little chocolate drop like my Addison.

Are you ready for Christmas lights?!!
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
This weekend was slightly busy but in a good, non stressful kind of way. A few weeks ago a couple of my girlfriends from college and I thought it would be a good idea to do a gift exchange and cookie party for our children. On Friday evening, we all gathered at the hostess’ house and helped the children make cookies, and ornaments. We then ate pizza and exchanged gifts. The entire time we were doing our festive activities I just kept thinking how did we go from passing out and holding each other up in the club to baking and making Christmas crafts with a whole bunch of kids…I know. God is able.
Saturday we took it easy and around 4 o’clock we drug ourselves out of the house to do some grocery shopping and get our Christmas tree. Get home, put the groceries up, and the children are so excited to decorate the tree. After searching high and low for the ornaments for at least 20 minutes I conveniently remembered that I threw them all away last year with the intent to buy all new ones. Please don’t judge me. To appease those babies I let them recklessly string lights on the tree until I can get to Walmart today to get some new ornaments. I said don’t judge!!!
Sunday was a busy day. The first stop was to a local tweet up with Motions haircare. The event was hosted by Danielle of The Style and Beauty Doctor and Lexi of Lexi With the Curls. We went around discussing our natural hair journeys, and exchanged tips on how to style our hair for the holidays. I got some great tips and some great products. More detailed post to come later in the week.
Left from the tweetup and headed over to Ammazza a new pizzeria here in Atlanta. There is a group of mothers here that go by Georgia Social Media Moms and the event here was our first Christmas Party. Everyone was welcome to bring their families but I went solo..
.cause I needed a minute to myself. The pizza was amazing, and the atmosphere was equally magnificent. I will definitely be headed back there with the family in tow. Unfortunately my camera and phone were dying by the time I got there so I don’t have many photos but the ambiance was amazing. If you are in Atlanta check them out.
For Sunday’s festivities I wore:
Shirt: Thrifted Jeans: Thrifted Belt: Thrifted Shoes: Target Clearance $5.98!!!!!
Overall an awesome weekend. How was yours? Are your Christmas decorations up? Is your Christmas shopping done, almost done or are you still waiting on the spirit of Christmas present to move you?
