Ever looked up to realize it has been months since you made a phone call to a good friend, or took the time out to get together with a girl friend? No? Me either.
Life in all of its glorified “busy ness” can indirectly keep us from the things and people that are most important to us. We place importance on things and people that don’t really matter, while the things that do matter essentially have to “get in, where they fit in.”
This coming Spring and Summer seasons I am vowing to slow down a bit and nourish my soul by making it a point to spend time with the people I love that I don’t get to see that often. This weekend I kicked off that tradition by hosting a couple of the homies over at the house for an afternoon of girl talk, eats, drinks and selfies!!
I kept the eats light and the drinks flowing. You weren’t there so you missed the Sangria I made. Don’t fret, I shall share the recipe with you soon.
These Aladdin jars turned the drink options into eye candy and kept everyone coming back for more. The middle drink was for the littles that had their own party outdoors
In simple southern laid back style we enjoyed our drinks in these Aladdin mason jars, that are just a small part of their Mason Entertaining Collection which is perfect for Spring and Summer impromptu or planned soirees. Did I mention they are plastic, so when someone has one “too many” no worries….just clean it up and keep the party going.
Y’all know I loves a good time and many were had Saturday afternoon. So much so that I couldn’t be bothered with my big camera so iPhone photos were my live in the moment captures.
I’m ordering you to spend time outdoors, eating, drinking and being merry with your peeps this Spring and Summer.
Ordering I said.
Besides life is too short and margaritas and Sangria over a sunset, with an evening breeze and some jazz playing is living at it’s best. Don’t forget to set out your citronella candles!!
When was the last time you got together with someone you haven’t seen in awhile? Do share your summertime porch drinks with me. I need an arsenal.
I was provided compensation and product to facilitate this post. All opinions are mine. You already know!
How was your weekend?
This weekend was rather chill.
Saturday morning my husband took my stepdaughter home :-(. This is one indication that summer is quickly coming to close.
While he was traveling down south, I was at the builder handling some issues with our new home. I’ll go in detail later this week.
For the greater part of the afternoon we lounged around and then around 6 in the evening we all headed out to my bestie’s house. She was hosting a birthday dinner party for herself! We ate and had drinks on the rooftop of her loft downtown. The weather was perfect. Great time hanging out with the family and friends. Those moments are so far and few between that I really do cherish them.
My bestie’s neighbor is from Africa and she made this dish. It was potatoes, cabbage, peppers, string beans and a tomato base. So good. I am going to ask her for the recipe and share. You have to taste.
How was your weekend!
Sorry I’ve been so incognito lately. Last week’s launch had me doing damage control all week. Just little tweaks here and there that I didn’t realize until the site went live. Need an example? Like I forgot to add the inventory amounts to the back end and almost had a major problem when a particular size sold out. Took nearly 5 orders before I realized it wasn’t charging shipping. Yeah. So. You live and learn…and do damage control.
How was your weekend. I laid somewhat low but I did get out during Tuesday of last week for the Sadiddy Magazine release party. Of course I hung out with my Bloggy BFF Trina, my real life BFF Niya and a few other ATL fashion bloggers. The event was held at House of Adrene, an awesome boutique in downtown Atlanta. We got swag, more about that later in the week. Here are a few pics from the event.
Friday, I kicked it at the crib with the family. One of my best friends is on a consulting gig in NYC and won’t be here next weekend for my birthday so she fell through with sangria and cupcakes..Heeeeyyyyyyyy!!!
Singing Happy Birthday while I hit my two step.
Saturday, I laid low and went thrifting while the children stayed home with the Mr. Sunday, I went to the grocery store. So get this, I always forget my list, not this week. I had a death grip on my list but somehow left the house without my glasses and I didn’t have my contacts in. MISERY. Ugh!!
