Take Me Out to the Ball Game….Like Every Day

When we have children, maybe I’ll speak for myself.

When I had children I just couldn’t wait for them to get of age to get involved in extracurricular activities. Piano lessons, sports, dance lessons etc. I wanted my children to be just as involved and well rounded as I was growing up.  I surely wasn’t thinking about  the logistics required to have two children involved in multiple activities. Every day of the week we are gone and don’t mention the weekends. Saturdays start early and end late.

The baby is taking her first foray into sports and is playing Tee Ball this year. Talk about something hilarious. Either everyone is running for the ball, including members of the batting team or my child is pointing at the ball as it rolls by. Baseball

Moments in the dug out are spend socializing, not at all paying attention to the game.

I will say she will get out there and give that ball a real whack….with her Hello Kitty bat that I had to go to 3 Targets to find. Anything for my baby. She’ll run as well, maybe not to the correct base but those little legs move.

I am a fan of children playing sports because it teaches them sportsmanship. She has to learn that every time won’t be her turn. Remember those days of being impatient because you wanted it to be your turn. She’s on that. She earned this trait honestly. I won’t tell you how many times my Mama got me together on the field because I was being a poor sport.

As tired and ragged as I feel I wouldn’t have it any other way. I read somewhere the other day that we may complain now about how many activities our children have, or how messy they are or about the 238,038,581 questions they may ask in a day but the truth is one day they will grow up and we will look back on these moments and long for them.

I guess.

Where my sports Moms at? Do you have snacks packed in your purse to nibble on? Do you talk to the other Moms? Are you the Team Mom?

I am done with sports done I tell you lol. It’s nice though I love getting to meet other moms and we talk trash to other teams and stuff but it can be to much when you have more than one child so I limit one activity per season for each child. My daughter wants to dance so bad but until I can find someplace reasonable she will dance at home. My son has severe allergies so he won’t be playing any sports anytime soon until we get that under control.

Ha! My post today is about RJ playing t-ball! I take my little lunch bag for my snacks. I get hungry out there. LOL I do talk to the other moms. We all get along well. Watching them play is hilarious. Many of the kids on RJ’s team just build sandcastles or volcanoes in the dirt.We don’t have a team mom. We all just pitch in wherever we’re needed and each family is assigned a day to bring the team after the game snacks.

Jas was talking about T-Ball but I don’t think she really wants to play. I talked to her about dance class and she got really excited so dance it is!

Okay, that Hello Kitty bat is everything. She is a total cutie pie in her uniform. Its hilarious to what the little people play sports. They do what they want, they could care less about the game at hand. hahaahha

Thus far my 9 year old is the only one in sports. He is a Jr. Black Belt in Martial Arts and we are there 4 days out of the week. Additional days for seminars, tournaments, community activities and more.

I’m not sure when I will start my 2 year old, but I know we will be equally exhausted.

I have two boys; my husband and I had them in Boy Scouts, soccer, and swimming. Then we both work full time and were full time students. It was definitely a challenge. This year, thank goodness we have narrowed it down to baseball and swimming. I usually have some gatorade stored in my trunk for them. They are always thirsty. I usually don’t get heavily involved with others parents as I am talking to hubby or too busy taking pics talking to them on sideline giving words of encouragement. I am all in the game; posting updates on social media LMAO.

Aw, so cute! That Hello Kitty bat is adorable. Not only have I been the Team Mom, hub and I coached every sport the little people participated in. I stopped after I nearly got hit in the stomach with a bat at T-ball practice…while I was pregnant. 4 y/o is saying she wants to do team sports this fall, so we might be getting back into it. The best I can do is pray for rain on game days, lol. Baseball was my fave b/c I loved to sit out in the stands on warm afternoons chatting with girlfriends while our kids played.

I feel ya on the fun extra-curriculars can bring. We’ve been cautiously approaching this phase and it’s hard not to get carried away. Piano and dance are about all we can handle right now but I want to add swimming and and soccer. My parents had 4 kids and while I’m 8, 10 and 12 years older than my siblings I was able to transport myself places (or get rides) in high school so that made it easier but they decided to streamline my siblings into just one activity: track & field and find each child’s niche event within that. That was a tactic I always admired and may implement with my two in the future!

Usually do speak to the other moms. (Since it’s usually the same parents, with every sport) Also, I do bring snacks since I’m a snack person. Especially the days that he has football games in other towns and we have to be there pretty much all day to watch my son and step son play… I’m not a “team mom” I help out when I can though.

We have done t-ball and soccer in the past years and they’ve enjoyed it. My son wants to do football. I’m not ready for that. No.
