I tried it again. The Bantu Knots.
Somehow missed the first go round—> Go Here. I’ll wait.
I took some of your advice and went about it a little differently
- I actually washed my hair first.
Last time it was done on 3 week old dirt that was sprayed with water and product added - I blow dried the water off my hair first. My hair holds water so I just did it enough so that it was still damp
- After blow drying it to a damp state I let it air dry for an hour
Looked like this:
Then, I added about 5 bantu knots to each side using a mixture of Beautiful Curls and Coconut oil, making sure to really seal the ends so they wouldn’t be frizzy
I forgot to take a photo of them while they were in but after playing with them, this was my final outcome.
I am pleased with the outcome. If I scarred you the first time, do you think you will try after all?!!

Gorgeous and yes, this has made me want to try!!
Love it! Second time is the charm! It takes a little trial and error when dealing with hair styles and cooking I’ve learned.

Well I still have a long way to go with the cooking. I keep it basic for minimal mishaps

You look beautiful! Even though, I did enjoy the previous try a little too much!
Thanks!! Yeah, this one wasn’t good for many laughs!

I think it turned out great! Before my big chop I tried it once. I think it’s a nice change from a twist out.
It is. You can really get stuck in the twist and braid out rut. Only thing was it only last a few days but it made for a nice top bun when it got old.

oh I love it! This one turned out MUCH better than the first…my hair is still a fro but I will try my bantu knots this way…thanks!
Yes…MUCH better. Only thing is you have to redo them at night.
Always cute! Makes me want to grow my hair out.
Beautiful!!! Good job! But I did enjoy the photo from the last try!
Very, very pretty, Mimi. I went relaxer-free almost a year ago, gradually getting rid of all the processed hair. I can’t wait to try styles like this.
I will probably be hitting you up for natural hair tips because your hair type looks similar to mine. I washed mine for the first time on my own over the weekend, and let’s just say there were tears (and I’m not a cryer). My hair was unbelievably huge and tangled — I couldn’t even get a comb through it (and I’ve earned a whole new respect for my hair stylist). Turns out I used a transition-to-natural product that just wasn’t for my hair. After a repeat wash and using regular Pink Oil moisturizer (my go-to product for years), I was once again enthusiastic about my transition to natural.
Anyhoo, please dish where you got those earrings. Thanks, and have a good weekend!

Hey!! That is the thing. Finding products that work for you. When I transitioned I was using Frederic Fekkai now I can’t use it for some reason. Once you get your products your good and the truth is the high dollar ones work no better than the reasonably priced ones.
I got my earrings from the clearance rack at Macys!!
Simply gaaawwwwgeous!!! Happy you took the advice to try again with hair less wet.
Have a fab weekend!

This looks much better than the previous one. I am convinced that you have to have some moisture in your hair for this style to work. You look great!

Hi, long time no chat!! I love your hair. I have the Beautiful Curls, but I stopped using it after I experienced flakes!! YIKES!
What products are your faves?
Thanks and have a great week!

I haven’t used Beautiful Curls although I’ve heard mixed reviews about it. I have moved to using Miss Jessie’s that I received in a swag bag and some coconut oil. I have so many products that I am just over all of them, not to mention that my daughter has a completely different texture from me so finding something that works for her as well has been a job!
Why didn’t you show a picture with the knots… I need that pic so I can copy and be fly like you!
Girrrllll…Here is the first set I did. They looked like the ones in the picture I just made sure they dried fully the second time.
